Thematic Mapping / Symbology

                                                   

                                     Thematic Mapping


In previous post we have given different colors to the different polygons, here we are doing something like same but here we are doing  analytic process, so this maps can be use for analytic tasks, 

Step 1 , 

  
Just add a your shape file in to layer

Step 2,



Then "right click" on the layer and go to properties then select "Symbology" tab.

Step 3,


Then select "Graduated Colors" under "Quantities".

Step 4, 


After that from "Value" select field you need, I have select "Male" filed for this task.

Step 5,


from "Classification" we can select how many breaks we need (number of range), 

Step 6, 


Then from the "Color Ramp" select color range you required. 

Step 7,



Then you can see the result by just click on "Apply" and "ok". Left hand side you can see the ranges and the colors as we given.

Symbology

                                        


To day we are going to give different colors for the polygons which are in same Shape file,

Step 1 ,

Add a shape file to ArcMap which containing at least few polygons. 




Step 2,

Then right click on the Shape file and select the properties,


Step 3,

Now you can see the property window, then select Symbology tab, and select Unique Value under Categories,




Step 4,

Then from the Value Filed you can select the filed you want to work with Symbology,



Step 5,

Then you have to select "Add All Values", then in the pop up window select "Yes" button, 



Step 6,

Now you can see ArcMap has been added the polygons you have requested,



Step 7,


You can select color scheme as you wish by using "Color Ramp",


Step 8,

Finally just select "Apply" and "Ok", you will see your work as below,
